(CBS/AP) Living on the edge has apparently caught up with "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen, who entered a rehabilitation center Friday after a night of wild partying, allegedly involving porn stars and heavy drug use, landed him in the emergency room.

The 45-year-old actor was taken to a Los Angeles area hospital Thursday and was there until around midnight for medical issues stemming from the actor's history of hernia problems, according to Sheen's publicist Stan Rosenfield.

According to celebrity gossip site TMZ, Sheen had spent much of the night with Kacey Jordan, a 22-year-old adult movie star, along with other women.

Jordan told TMZ that Sheen received a "briefcase full of cocaine" during the night, and neighbors told the gossip site they heard loud partying at Sheen's residence overnight.

"I can't comment because I have no idea if it's true," Rosenfield, told the site. "You choose to believe your source. I don't."

Doctors have not yet disclosed the reason for Sheen's hospitalization, but Sheen is out of the hospital and has voluntarily agreed to enter an undisclosed rehabilitation center.

The actor's antics have caused a headache for many, including CBS and series producer Warner Bros. television. On Monday CBS issued a statement announcing that production of "Two and a Half Men" has been placed on hold while he is recovering.

"Any immediate programming or financial implications pale in comparison to his long term health, safety and well-being."

"I'm checking TMZ, as I do every day, to know if I have to go to work at all," his co-star, Jon Cryer, quipped on TBS' "Conan" last week.

Sheen's headline-making behavior has included a wild night that allegedly left a New York hotel room in shambles and sent him to a hospital, and a guilty plea last summer to assaulting his wife in Aspen, Colo., the previous Christmas.
