Charlie Cox's "Daredevil" work messed up his Han Solo audition
Enough time playing a character who never makes eye contact can give an actor some bad habits.
At least, that's the lesson that "Daredevil" star Charlie Cox learned when he got called in for a very high-profile project -- and botched the audition.
Cox had completed two seasons of his star-making turn as the blind vigilante superhero on Marvel's gritty Netflix series when he was brought in to read for what he believes was the Han Solo stand-alone film being produced by Disney.
"I had gone to an audition -- one of those things that are super secretive and they don't tell you, but I'm pretty sure it was for the Han Solo reboot," Cox tells the Hollywood Reporter.
"Halfway through it, the casting director stopped me and said, 'Why aren't you looking at me?' I realized I had gotten into a habit of not making eye contact, because the only thing I had done for two years is play someone who is blind."
The part eventually went to Alden Ehrenreich -- though it probably didn't come as much of a surprise to Cox that he didn't get it. "I never got invited back, probably because they couldn't figure out why I was acting like a complete idiot," he said.
