This story was written by Rafat Ali.

CBS (NYSE: CBS), reeling from disappointing earnings in the last quarter, has done some layoffs, at the corporate level, and separate from that, at some local O&O stations. On the corporate level, TVNewser reports that CBS News has made cuts in to editorial, technical operations and the bureaus. The total cuts amount to 1 percent of the staff, the post says.

On CBS local O&O stations, the cuts were deep: 30 staffers at WBZ Boston, 17 at WBBM Chicago and 14 at KPIX San Francisco, and includes cuts online as well, reports B&C. Also hit were KCNC Denver and KOVR Sacramento, Calif., and ohers. CBS owns 29 stations, including 16 CBS affiliates and nine CW outlets.

Staci adds: This is the latest in a series of job cuts for CBS, which cut interactive staff at year's endslicing CBSNews.com's staff by 15-20 employees, roughly 30 percent, and laying off the StarTrek..com team, among others. During the first quarter, more than 40 CSTV staffers were laid off when CBS integrated CSTV with CBS Sports.
