St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa went to a hospital for tests on his stomach Wednesday and missed a game against the Cincinnati Reds.
The tests found that La Russa has nothing more severe than an irritated stomach, the Cardinals announced. He remained at Good Samaritan Hospital for observation Wednesday evening.
La Russa had tests on his stomach Monday and watched most of the Cardinals' 4-2 loss to Minnesota on Tuesday from the clubhouse. His stomach began bothering him again Wednesday morning after the team arrived in Cincinnati, Cardinals assistant publicity director Brad Hainje said.
Reds team Dr. Timothy Kremchek arranged for more tests at Good Samaritan Hospital. The results matched those from Monday.
