Car ad suggests women suck at driving, we disagree
(CBS) - It's no secret, lots of men love cars. But guess what - many women love cars, too. Add to that, women are great drivers. That's why this old-school tire commercial ticked us off so much...
This Goodyear Tire Polyglas commercial assumes women can't drive. The voice over guy says, "Polyglas means more than mileage when your wife has to drive alone... When a woman's at the wheel, Polyglas means more than mileage." Men, it's rude to insinuate your little lady can't drive. As a matter of fact, men are cited for reckless driving 3.41 more times than women. Reckless driving, FYI, is one of the more serious of offenses on the road.
Nowadays, women are put in car ads to give vehicles sex appeal. In this Mercedes Benz A-Class commercial, safety is not a factor. All that matters? That the uber hot, high-fashion model, Jessica Stam, is reunited with her sleek, silver sex mobile. To her, apparently, it's the most important thing in the world - so important that she'd invite blisters on her feet as she runs in sky-high stilettos and risk getting crushed by a garage door to get to it.
Now this is more like it. In this Mazda 2 Zoom-Zoom commercial, our heroin proves ignorant men wrong - she doesn't try to be all sexy or desperate about it either. "Hahaha, she's never going to get in there," says the guy. Woman scoffs and parallel parks like a true champ. Booya!
