Canadiens Re-Sign Brian Savage

Left wing Brian Savage, a restricted free agent who missed all of training camp and the first five games of the regular season, agreed to a two-year, $3.5 million deal with the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday.

Savage, 27, will earn $1.6 million this season and $1.9 in 1999-2000 and could earn more depending on certain performance bonuses.

Savage, who was scheduled to arrive in Montreal from Florida on Tuesday night, had 26 goals and 17 assists in 64 games last season. The Canadiens (2-2-1) play host to Ottawa on Wednesday. Left wing Martin Rucinsky is the only restricted free agent Montreal has left to re-sign.
