Bulls Re-Sign Coach Cartwright

Chicago Bulls assistant coach Bill Cartwright re-signed with the team Thursday.

"I'm looking forward to working with Tim Floyd," said Cartwright, the former Bulls center who spent the last two seasons as an assistant under Phil Jackson. "We've had great discussions about the game in general. There is a tremendous amount of knowledge we can share with one another."

Floyd was recently appointed director of basketball operations for the Bulls and is expected to become coach after the NBA lockout. Jackson, who led the Bulls to six NBA titles, has said he is not returning.

Floyd says he wants to keep most of the Bulls staff intact. Along with Cartwright, he has persuaded Frank Hamblen to return. Tex Winter, architect of the Bulls' triangle offense, remains unsigned.
