Bryce Dallas Howard welcomes a baby girl

(CBS) Bryce Dallas Howard and her actor husband Seth Gabel welcomed their first daughter last week.

Bryce's filmmaker father, Ron Howard, announced the news Sunday on Twitter, writing, "Beatrice Jean Howard-Gabel Born Jan 19 2012 8lbs 6oz Bryce & Baby B are spectacular Daddy Seth & brother Theo are beaming ear to ear." He later added, "Beatrice's arrival is hugely exciting for our family Thanks for all the kind tweets folks."

The couple's son Theo is 4 years old.

Bryce, 30, married Gabel in June 2006 after dating for more than five years. The actress recently starred in "50/50" and "The Help."
