(CBS/AP) LONDON - After a busy weekend filled with the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony, a birthday service for Prince Philip and a charity polo match, Britain's royal family gathered once again for the annual Order of the Garter service.

Queen Elizabeth II was joined by her husband and a host of other royals - including the recently-married Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge - for the Garter Day ceremony on Monday at Windsor Castle.

Crowds gathered to catch glimpses of the royals and Garter Knights, who wore blue velvet robes and black velvet hats topped with white feather plumes.

The former Kate Middleton wore a grey dress and matching coat for the event. She topped off the look with a Philip Treacy headpiece, according to the Daily Mail.

The duchess grinned broadly as she watched her husband take part in the procession ahead of the service - causing him to blush.

Garter Day is a symbolic occasion when holders of the honor, chosen because they have held public office, contributed to national life or served the sovereign personally, meet to celebrate the most senior British order of chivalry.
