NEW YORK (CBS) "Twilight" fans will have to wait until late next year to see "Breaking Dawn" on the big screen.

The final book in Stephanie Meyer's saga will be divided into two films, the first of which is set to arrive in theaters on Nov. 18, 2011.

"Breaking Dawn" will be directed by Bill Condon, who said in a release from Summit Entertainment that he's "excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to life on-screen."

"As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind book--and we're hoping to create an equally unique experience," he continued.

In the same statement, Meyer said she was excited to see what Condon would do with the book's material.

"I think he's going to be a great fit," she said.

Taylor Lautner, who plays Jacob in the films, told MTV News on Tuesday that he thought splitting the book into two films was "the right thing to do."

"It's hard enough to condense 500 pages into a script, but to condense 800 and everything that's going on in 'Breaking Dawn,' it would have been impossible," he said.
