According to CBS affiliate WGME, 20-year-old Akeem Cruz of Brooklyn, New York was arrested by Maine state police after they received complaints about someone selling cocaine from a South Portland motel room.

Police have said Cruz was the last person to see 22-year-old Megan Waterman alive before she vanished in early June from a hotel in Hauppage, on Long Island. Waterman, a Scarborough, Maine native, reportedly worked as an escort and went with Cruz to Hauppage, reported police.

On Tuesday agents allegedly seized 13 grams of crack cocaine and nearly $2,000 in cash from Cruz, who is already out on bail for an incident in June that resulted in a woman's tires being slashed and her life threatened. Cruz allegedly told the woman, "you better stop talking about me or I'll kill you," reported WGME. He was charged with criminal threatening and criminal mischief for the incident.

Scarborough police are still treating Waterman's disappearance as a missing-person case. Cruz is considered a witness in that case and he is being held without bail stemming from the drug-related charges.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Megan Waterman is asked to call the Scarborough Police Department at 207-883-6361, or their anonymous tip line at 207-730-4200, ext 3093, or the Suffolk County Police Department at 631-854-8400.
