Authorities: Arrest made in fatal shooting of L.A. high school soccer player Francisco Rodriguez Jr.
(CBS/AP) LOS ANGELES - Authorities say at least one person has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a high school soccer goalie who was allegedly lured out of his home and gunned down last week.
According to a police statement, the arrest or arrests in the shooting of Francisco Javier Rodriguez Jr., 17, will be announced at a Tuesday afternoon press conference. No other details were available.
Rodriguez Jr., who played soccer at El Camino Real High School was shot on Jan. 11 after returning home from a soccer match. Relatives said he was shot after answering the door and stepping outside. This is where a red-haired woman had been seen.
CBS Los Angeles reports the red-haired female, who may have lured the soccer player to his death was being called a person of interest Saturday.
The woman or girl knocked on the family's door, called Rodriguez Jr. by name and lured him outside. Accomplices then shot him moments later -- just after 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said the teenager's murder was not random but a motive remains unknown.
Rodriguez's family said he had no gang affiliation and his life was centered around soccer.
