"Australians will be punished, hurt and killed," warns radical cleric

A radical Australian Shi'a cleric called "Sheikh Haron" warned that Australians will be punished for endorsing the execution of the three Bali bombers on Sunday. Sheikh Haron's statement was read out by his spokesperson "Sister Amirah," a 28-year-old Australian convert to Islam, and posted on the Internet yesterday.

"I promise you that Australia will be attacked. I promise you that Australians will be hurt. Prime Minister Kevin Rudd I swear to God that Muslims will attack Australia," the spokeswoman said on the 8-minute video.

There's little information available on Sheikh Haron. He presents himself as "Australian Muslim Cleric Ayatollah Manteghi Boroujerdi," but there are doubts amongst Muslim leaders in Australia about his true identity and whether he is deliberately stirring anti-Islamic sentiment.
