Ann Romney created buzz on Twitter

(CBS News) Of four hours worth of political speeches Tuesday night at the Republican National Convention, Ann Romney's ode to her husband Mitt Romney received the most buzz on Twitter.

Metrics provided by the micro-blogging site show that Ann Romney's Twitter mentions nearly doubled after her speech, with the most tweets per minute occurring when Mitt Romney walked on stage to hug her after she was done. The 6,195 tweets per minute, however, is far fewer than the 80,000 tweets per minute Jamaican runner Usain Bolt received during one of his record-breaking Olympic performances.

One of the most popular tweets of the night was a picture, sent out by Romney's body man Garrett Jackson, of the Republican presidential candidate watching his wife speak on television behind stage.

Mitt Romney also received a bounce in mentions on Twitter, doubling the average number of tweets in which he is mentioned since May. But his mentions still fell below those of his wife, who, sine May, has been consistently mentioned more on Twitter.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie also helped to drive the conversation on the micro-blogging site. His line about a "second American century" received the second highest spike in mentions with 6,079 tweets per minute.

Christie set up a new Twitter account to promote his speech, where he laid out the themes of his speech.
