Andrew Koenig, Actor, Depressed Before Valentine's Day Disappearance, Say Parents

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (CBS/AP) As police ask for the public's help in locating Andrew Koenig, those who knew him personally say the "Growing Pains" actor suffered from depression and was "in a bad place" leading up to his disappearance.

Vancouver police say the 41-year-old Koenig "has recently been despondent and his family and friends are concerned for his well-being."

Koenig's parents, Judy and Walter Koenig, told celebrity blog TMZ that their son was "suffering from depression."

Police say Koenig was visiting friends in West Vancouver when he went missing. He was last seen on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14.

Koenig lives in Venice, California, but at one time lived in Vancouver. His father, Walter Koenig, played Chekov on the "Star Trek" television series and movies.

On the 1980s sitcom "Growing Pains" Andrew Koenig played Boner, a pal of star Kirk Cameron's character Mike.
