ANAHEIM, Calif. (CBS/KCAL/AP) Police in Anaheim have issued an Amber Alert for two young boys who were abducted outside their home Thursday evening.

Sgt. Rick Martinez says Jacob and Justin Quinones were following their mother who was taking her trash to a dumpster in the alley beside their apartment complex at about 8 p.m. The mother had her back turned for one moment and in that brief time a van had pulled up.

Two men jumped out, snatched the children, put them back in the van and sped off.

At first, police were treating the abduction as a random kidnapping; however, upon further investigation they now believe it could have been a "parental abduction" and have named the boys' father and paternal grandfather as potential suspects.

Investigators have identified the men as 23-year-old Abraham Fernandez and 52-year-old Louis Mendoza Fernandez, both believed to be Houston residents, reports KTLA.

"We believe they may be on their way back to Texas. We don't know for sure but they may be en route out of state," Martinez told KTLA.

Police are looking for a 2010 silver or grey Dodge Caravan which has damage on its right front door, tinted windows, and possible paper license plates.

Justin, 2, is described as 2 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 38 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a Buzz Lightyear t-shirt.

Jacob, 4, is described as 3 feet tall, weighing 62 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a Buzz Lightyear t-shirt and beige shorts with a grey jacket.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Anaheim Police Department at (714) 765 4311.
