Alyssa Rehfield Amber Alert Canceled; Texas Teen Found in New Mexico
NEW YORK (CBS) Local media are reporting that Alyssa Rehfield, the Harris County, Texas teen who went missing on Monday, has been located.
An Amber Alert had been issued for the girl Tuesday, stating that she was believed to be in the company of a 36-year-old man, David Karan, and police in Texas had said they believed the two were headed out of state.
Deputy Chief Craig Brady said Thursday that Alyssa was found in Raton, N.M., and that Karan is now being held on a $150,000 bond, according to local station KRIV.
Brady said that Rehfield and Karan knew each other when Karan lived in Harris County in 2009, and that the pair had stayed in contact. Brady, according to Fort Bend Now, also said that Rehfield was with the man of her own accord, and that Rehfield's mother had raised questions about sexual contact between her daughter and Karan in 2009.
According to Fort Bend Now, Karan has been charged with enticing a child, and is expected to be extradited back to Harris County.
Raton, N.M. is over 800 miles from Harris County, Texas.
