Al Sahab Releases 2001 Bin Laden Statement With Urdu Translation
Al Qaeda's so-called "media production company" al Sahab re-released Osama bin Laden's December 2001 statement with an Urdu translation and posted it on militants Islamist websites this weekend. The 35-minute statement includes new graphics and editing and shows twin images of Bin Laden delivering his statement over video of a waterfall in a jungle. The translation and re-release of the seven-year-old video is clearly a continuation of al Sahab's propaganda strategy by keeping al Qaeda leaders present on the militant websites, even when they are not making any new tapes.
