3 arrested after 2 new Phoenix highway shootings
PHOENIX --Three people were arrested early Sunday morning after two shootings were reported along Interstate 10, reports CBS affiliate KPHO.
State troopers responded to a caller who saw a passenger in a black sedan shoot a handgun out a window shortly after 2 a.m. The caller followed the car as a Phoenix police helicopter located and tracked it to a nearby apartment complex, police said.
As passengers exited the car, two people were arrested immediately. A third person was taken into custody about 45 minutes later, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, which did not specify where that arrest took place.
It was the second report of a highway shooting that night. The other also involved a shot allegedly fired out of a black sedan along Interstate-10.
The black sedan was seized as evidence and charges are pending further investigation. Police have not released the suspects' names.
No one was injured in the shootings, but a bullet to hit a vehicle.
Officials do not believe there is a connection to a series of Phoenix highway shootings that occurred in August and September.
