Dozens Injured In Over 335 Crashes, Spinouts In Wednesday's Snowstorm
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota State Patrol said more than two dozen people were injured in over 335 crashes and spinouts during Wednesday's snowstorm.
Official numbers have not been released, but between 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, State Patrol heard about more than 300 crashes or cars off the road. Of those calls, 171 were crashes in which 27 people were injured. None resulted in serious injuries.
Road conditions are much better across the metro Thursday, but snow is still falling in southeastern Minnesota. The Minnesota Department of Transportation warns drivers that many highways in that area are still completely covered with snow right now.
Some areas in the metro were buried in a foot of snow, like Prior Lake, but others didn't even see a flake. Just 30 miles north in Maple Grove, yards were bare.
A foot of snow fell in Savage and Burnsville saw 11.5 inches. However, just a few miles north in downtown Minneapolis snow did not coat the streets or sidewalks.
This snowfall had some change from spring mode back into winter clean up mode.
"I was thinking we were done. I didn't think we'd get this much after that last little bit we had. It seems to be adding up quite a bit," Michael Wardell, of Hawkins Tree & Landscaping, said.
A lot of the schools in the metro are out for spring break or conferences. But students in Prior Lake and Savage had spring break last week and should be careful when trying to get to school.
Other schools in southern Minnesota have declared snow days.

A number of flights are also affected at MSP International Airport Thursday as well.
