Toddler drowns after wandering into backyard pool in Miami‑Dade

A 3‑year‑old girl drowned early Saturday after wandering into her family’s backyard pool while they were asleep, according to the Miami‑Dade Sheriff’s Office. Deputies and fire rescue responded just before 6 a.m. to a home near Southwest 132nd Avenue and 119th Street, where the parents had already pulled the child from the water and were performing CPR. She was taken to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital but could not be saved.
