Secretary Rubio criticizes Cuba’s leadership amid crisis, denies oil blockade
Secretary of State Marco Rubio says the U.S. will not accept the status quo in Cuba, pushing back on claims of an oil blockade and blaming Cuba’s economic crisis on failed leadership. Rubio stated Venezuela has stopped sending free oil to Cuba, which the country once partially resold for cash. He also called Cuba’s leaders “incompetent communists” and is set to discuss the crisis with Pope Leo at the Vatican this week.
