Remains of last U.S.-Israeli hostage returned to Israel
The Israel Defense Forces later confirmed the remains belonged to Itay Chen, the last Israeli American hostage held in Gaza. Chen died during battle at Kibbutz Nir Oz on Oct. 7, 2023, and his body was taken to Gaza. He was 19 years old, the IDF said.
