Ex‑UF president announces cancer diagnosis
A former U.S. senator and University of Florida president has revealed he has been diagnosed with stage‑four pancreatic cancer. He served in the Senate until 2023 before taking the helm at UF, a role he later left to focus on his family after his wife was diagnosed with epilepsy. He was also among the Republicans who voted to convict President Donald Trump during the second impeachment trial following the January 6 attack on the Capitol.
