Grieving loved one says "put the guns down" after 2 people killed at Lauderhill apartment complex

A grieving relative is urging people to "put the guns down" after her 23-year-old family member was shot and killed at a Lauderhill condominium complex.

The relative said her family member, Ariana, died at the scene at the Hidden Forest condominium complex near Northwest 19th Street and 43rd Terrace. Lauderhill police said a second person died after being transported to Broward Health Medical Center.

Police have not released a motive, suspect description, or details regarding whether the individuals involved knew each other.

"Our family member Ariana was killed tonight," the relative said. "There was another fellow who died at the hospital. We need answers. The family does not know what is going on."

Both of the victims were identified by police as Adianna McCray, 23, and Yehuda St. Dic, 23.

According to the relative, the shooting began as a dispute among others. "She didn't have anything to do with it. It was other people. All we know is someone started shooting."

A neighbor named Carl said, "I heard four bullets. I saw two young ladies arguing with someone out there, but I didn't see who they were arguing with."

"We just wish everybody would put the guns down," the relative said. "Put the guns down. You can't bring a life back. If you know anything, please come forward because we need answers."

Investigators scoured the scene for evidence, where neighbors reported a bullet hole left in an air conditioning unit.

Neighbor Jose Cintron said, "I heard three shots. I heard boom, boom, boom, that's it. I close my window. Boom, boom. It was really loud."

Another neighbor, Shirley Herrington, said, "I heard screaming and just a lot of shooting and screaming. It sounded like a bullet, a gun. We have never seen this before. I have been here six years, and I have never seen this before."

Lauderhill police stated they had no new information to release.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lauderhill Police Department at 954-497-4700 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered.
