Top Bars With History In South Florida

South Florida has its own little history that includes ghosts in Saint Augustine and The Barnacle villa in Coconut Grove bay that has survived all hurricanes in over 100 years. Tobacco Road
626 S. Miami Ave.
Miami, FL 33130
(305) 374-1198

Tobacco Road is known as the oldest bar in Miami and it has remained at the same location since it was built. Beers, burgers, improv and live music have survived Prohibition, drug lords and some shut-downs for not complying with moral standards so this locale can still be visited by its fan following. Tobacco Road still maintains its raggedy charm as one of Miami's most storied watering holes.

The Blue Anchor British Pub
804 E. Atlantic Blvd.
Delray Beach, FL 33483
(561) 272-7272

History is the air at this pub starting from the facade that comes straight from a dismantled pub in England. For the thrill-seekers, The Blue Anchor British Pub reports of having a ghost in its presence. The legend that ties this pub to the old world is a woman who was killed for jealousy. Beer, slow-roasted beef and some screams are not a bad combination at this piece of Delray history.

South Miami, FL 33143

Located in the heart of South Miami is a hidden gem under the most luscious vegetation of bougainvilleas and palms and far enough from the crowd of the mall. Bougainvillea's Old Florida Tavern's peculiar and unique charm is due to the original 1929 cottage made of rare Dade County pine. Before becoming a tavern, this cottage operated as a gift shop, tearoom and doctor's office. Now as a place for libations, happy hour is the best time to show up for a great list of cocktails. Leave it to Mike, the manager, to charm you with secrets and unveiled legends about the tavern.
