Supt. Carvalho Welcomes 500 New Teachers

MIAMI (CBS4) - In just about a week, the new school year will kick off in Miami-Dade, but a special group of teachers is already getting to work.
It's the first day of orientation for 500 brand new Miami-Dade School teachers, a day they've have been waiting for all summer long.
The orientation, which will last four days, is being held at Miami Jackson Senior High. Miami-Dade Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho was on hand Thursday morning to welcome them personally.
Carvalho told them he started out as a teacher at Miami Jackson and they were joining the noblest of professions.
The superintendent posted a Twitter that they would make a difference in the young lives they were about to instruct.
