Sports Agenda For Tuesday (10/25/11)

Big Story:
Guh. That's about all I can say about football in the state of Florida. Frankly it sucks harder than an Electrolux. Plus, the NBA may as well cancel the whole season, and conference realignment is still on hold while my beloved Mizzou Tigers make their decision.
Let's hit this agenda harder than the Dolphins do rock bottom.

Last Word On Dolphins/Tebow
I didn't get a chance to say this yesterday, but let's get two things straight about the Dolphins loss to the Broncos.
First, the Dolphins defense is a joke under Mike Nolan, as predicted by yours truly earlier in the season. It's his trend, first year is gangbusters, second year is complete garbage.
So the Fins gave that game away as much as anything.
Second, the Broncos won in spite of Tebow as much as because of Tebow.
They had better plays called at the end, especially on the two-point conversion, which everyone in the stadium knew was going to Tebow except the 11 Dolphin defenders.
But let's be clear on one thing, Tebow is not an NFL-caliber quarterback.
Did you see what happened to him when you made him a pocket passer?
Yeah, he completed 4 passes for about 40 yards through 56 minutes.
If he had been playing any other defense, especially one that can catch the ball, the Broncos would have lost by 30 points.
Still, you hear Tebow apologists saying he's the greatest quarterback ever.
He was one of the best college players ever, but that's where it stopped, in college.
In the NFL, he's an inaccurate passer with bad technique and bad footwork. He's one step below Vince Young when it comes to being an NFL quarterback.
And that ain't saying much.
Was it a great comeback? Sure.
But lots of average players have led great comebacks.
I had to laugh out loud when I heard someone try to put Tebow in the same breath as Cam Newton.
Seriously, someone actually was crazy enough to say that.
Let's see, Cam Newton is 6'6" tall with an accurate cannon for an arm and can run away from NFL defenses.
Tebow is….none of those things.
Tebow is a polarizing figure only because those that worship him refuse to see how bad he really is.
He's a great kid and a great person, but he's not an NFL quarterback pure and simple.
Here's one final thing to remember about watching the Miami Dolphins on Sundays/Mondays.
Don't let them ruin your weekend, sit back, enjoy the loss and enjoy the suck for luck campaign.

NBA:
The lockout has descended into chaos and namecalling.
Both sides have decided to act like jerks, and that's the bottom line.
Honestly, I say good riddance to the petulant children on both sides.

Panthers:
Don't look now, but the Florida Panthers are threatening to finish the month of October with a winning record.
They were buoyed last night by the start of goalie Jacob Markstrom, who looked great in this young season so far.
The Panthers are in second place in the Southeast Division, 4 points behind the Washington Capitals.
Overall, the Panthers are ranked sixth in the Eastern Conference.
Not too shabby guys, not too shabby.
The Panthers are off until Thursday night when they head to Ottawa to battle the Senators.

FIU: (vs. Troy, 8:00 p.m., ESPN2)
The Panthers hit the field again tonight looking to move two games over .500 with a victory over Troy.
Any time you face a college football team from Alabama, you better be ready for a real slobber-knocker.
Troy is ranked near the bottom of the league, so it should be an easy win for FIU.
But as anyone who has watched FIU play recently, nothing can be taken for granted with this group of kids.
