Sports Agenda For Monday (7/25/11) Ended The NFL Wars Has Edition

Big Story:
If you see a little tear in my eye throughout the day Monday it's because we can finally start talking about FOOTBALL! After close to 130 days of a lockout, the NFL and the NFLPA have agreed to a deal that will be voted on by the players around noon Monday. Plus, the Marlins have clawed their way back to just 0.5 games from jumping out of last place.
Let's hit the agenda like Mike Stanton hits a fastball.

Marlins: (off, next game Tuesday @Washington Nationals, 7:05 p.m.)
Bet you thought I'd start off with the NFL huh?
Well, the Marlins were able to take 2 out of 3 from the Metropolitans over the weekend, causing one CBS4 producer to consider hari kari.
Anibal Sanchez pitched well for the Fish Sunday, sans one or two pitches.
Mike Stanton blasted his 22nd home run of the season which puts him in a tie for 3rd place in the entire National League.
And the guy is just in his first full season. I'm telling you, if he keeps developing, the Marlins have a beast on their hands for years to come.
Josh Johnson is said to be regaining strength in his shoulder and is feeling better, but it's still doubtful he'll return this season.
That said, he's dying to get out there, but the Marlins will not rush him back to the field to protect him for the 2012 campaign.
The Marlins have the day off before starting a 9-game road trip against the NL East's Washington, NY Mets, and Atlanta Braves.
So the Marlins have the real possibility of climbing out of the cellar and possibly as high as 4th place by the time the road trip ends.
For a team that went from first to worst and is now trying to claw their way back up, that'll be quite an accomplishment.

NFL:
Now, what I've been waiting for all summer long.
The NFL is set to begin their league year as early as Tuesday.
That means, the Dolphins will be allowed to re-sign their own free agents and begin contacting free agents from other teams.
After a three-day period to do this, unrestricted free agency would begin and you better buckle your seatbelt cause it's going to be a wild ride when that happens.
The Dolphins have needs, which I'll try to get up on the site Monday.
Plus, I'll get the details of the newest deal up on the site as well today.
In the middle of all this, training camps will open over a series of three days, with big time rule changes for how much stuff can be done with pads and so forth.
In other words, we're going to learn this stuff as they do, but I'll keep you up to date on CBSMiami.com throughout the week, and probably into the weekend as well.
If it's going to happen to the Dolphins, I'll be the one to tell you about it on CBSMiami.com.
