Sports Agenda For Monday (12/19/11)

Big Story:
Twas the week before Christmas and only two teams in South Florida still warrant following. The Heat took the court and had the Magic seeing red and the Dolphins took the victory as snow fell on their head. The Panthers continued their season in first as the Miami Marlins hope they're not the worst.
Yes, that was lame, sorry. On to the agenda.

Miami Heat:
If you managed to stay awake through the whole game, you saw the Miami Heat look like they're in playoff form against a completely overmatched Orlando Magic team.
I struggled to figure out just how bad the Magic are or exactly how good the Heat are after that display.
Dwight Howard of the Magic could have played a lot better, but he's already looking to next year when he suits up with another team.
Santa delivered a pair of point guards to the Heat who through the first exhibition and scrimmage look like the position may be solved.
I'm more excited about Norris Cole than Mario Chalmers, simply because Cole is quicker than a hiccup.
I'm guessing he'll be in the starting lineup at some point this season.
He had 8 points, 8 assists, and 1 steal in the game last night.
And Heat fans should be happy because the roster is taking shape nicely.
Udonis, Battier, and Cole will all be coming off the bench, along with Juwan Howard and possibly Dexter Pittman, who made his presence felt last night.
As for the aforementioned Howard, he scored 5 points and had 4 fouls.
Nice showing there Superman.
But if you managed to not see the game, don't worry, you can also see the matchup again on Tuesday night.

Miami Dolphins:
So Reggie Bush ran for over 200 yards yesterday against the Buffalo Bills.
That's kinda like Tim Tebow throwing for 200 yards against Bethune Cookman in college.
It's good, but the competition is severely lacking.
It was good to see the Fins beat the Bills though as a tribute to Sparano, who like I said got the Oompa-Loompa end of the stick.
The Fins swept the Bills this season, luckily catching them on the downhill slide.
But, the win further complicated the Dolphins draft position.
Currently, the Fins are in a four-way tie for the eighth pick in the draft.
If the Fins win again, they drop to possibly in the teens.
So yes, a victory is nice, but a loss would be sweeter.
Otherwise, for the Fins to draft a franchise quarterback, they'll have to give up the farm in draft picks and possibly players.
I wonder if they'd part with Jake Long to get a top three pick?
I would, if I was completely sold on the quarterback I was going to pick.
But I'm also a gambler in the draft and would go all in if I thought the quarterback of the future was there.
The Fins will keep Matt Moore as the caretaker quarterback while the next one is groomed next year, which is the smart move.
Of course it will all depend on the team getting a quality coach, which I still have no faith in Ross to hire.
But kudos to the Dolphins for fighting hard for Coach Bowles and for at least having two division wins.
As for Reggie Bush, if you'll recall, before the season I said that Bush was very likely to have a renaissance year since he was primarily playing on natural grass.
I'm just saying.
Now, here's the kicker though.
Bush will cost the team big money against the salary cap and has just one year of solid output. The Fins could have had Darren Sproles and a more dynamic passing game for much less….but I digress.
Keep Bush on grass and things will be good….wait, isn't that what gets most pro athletes in trouble?

NFL Rewind:
It was a weekend full of blowouts across the league and Tim Tebow's myth was busted.
Yes, after being needled a little last week about jumping on his bandwagon, I said beat the Patriots and I'm on board.
Guess I don't need the ride after all.
In the NFL, there's a difference between a quarterback and Tim Tebow.
He's great at what he does, but he can't win in the playoffs if he gets to the playoffs.
I hope the kid does well, but I'm also a realist.
Going against the top quarterbacks and defenses in the league will humiliate him very quickly.
Honestly, do you think Tebow's game could survive the Steelers or Ravens defense? C'mon man.
Some Quick Hits on the League:
Green Bay - send the champagne to the 72 Dolphins, you came up short against the Chiefs…wait, the Chiefs?
One other thing: The 72 Dolphins aren't the only undefeated team South Florida. They are the only undefeated team to win the Super Bowl. Big difference.
Indianapolis – Welcome to your first win of the season ensuring the Lions are the only winless team for a full season.
Tennessee – Losing to Indianapolis is like losing to NBC6 in the ratings, ouch.
New York Jets – what does Rex Ryan and Knicks head coach Mike D'Antoni have in common – neither can win the big game and both have crappy defenses.
Jacksonville – Sorry about Blaine Gabbert, signed, Missouri Tigers fans everywhere.
Baltimore – really? Getting blasted by the Chargers? C'mon man.
Detroit – can it be real? Can the Lions make the playoffs. *Cue up Jim Mora talking about PLAYOFFS?!*
And finally, stop it Drew Brees, just stop it. Signed, Dan Marino.

Florida Panthers:
Florida is in second place in the Eastern Conference and have pulled away to an eight point lead heading into the next to last week in the season.
They play the Coyotes Tuesday and then the Senators and Bruins on the road to end the week.
The Coyotes game should be a victory along with the Ottawa game.
The Bruins, that will be a matchup with the Eastern Conference's best team.
The Panthers have already knocked them off once, and there's no reason to believe they can't do it again.
I see red and it's the blood the Panthers are leaving on the ice from their opponents.
