Sports Agenda For Monday (10/31/11)

Big Story:
Well, let's see, we can choose from the Dolphins continuing to suck it up, the U continuing to stink it up, UF choking again, the NBA players proving they are idiots, or the Panthers will have a winning record in October…wait, what?
Let's hit the agenda faster than the Dolphins hit the floor each week.

Dolphins:
I swear the Dolphins are just like Michael Corleone in the Godfather, Part III.
Just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in….and then lose, in the Dolphins case.
It's kind of like Lucy pulling the football out from Charlie Brown. You know it's going to happen, but just once you want it to work, so you'll keep watching, even though you know the ending.
Yes Fins fans, the Dolphins squandered another fourth quarter lead and saw yet another NFL team celebrate at the end of the game.
What should we target?
Bad coaching….check
No pass rush….check
Bad quarterback play….check
Bad play calling….check
Bad offensive line play….check
Seriously, it's just all bad.
I searched for something good to write about for the Dolphins…all I could come up with was the helmets looked good.
Seriously, please Mr. Ross, blow this team up.
It's not fair to Tony Sparano to keep him flopping in the wind like this. He's done, you can tell just by watching his demeanor on the sideline. He's done trying to come up with answers for these awful players.
Frankly, Don Shula and Vince Lombardi couldn't win with this team of excuses.
The Fins pass rush is non-existent, they can't run the ball consistently, their wide receivers can't catch and the quarterback is Matt Moore.
Someone explain to me how these guys aren't playing for the number one pick in the NFL draft.
The only bad part for the Dolphins is that the Indianapolis Colts are even worse. (Sorry Jawan.)
So the Fins will have to try to really suck it up if they want to get (Andrew) Luck.
Course if I'm luck, unless they bring in Bill Cowher or Jeff Fisher and get rid of everyone involved in this regime, I refuse to play here because Jeff Ireland has as much business being in control of the Dolphins as I do.
So Stephen Ross, the ball is in your court.
Are you going to punt like the Dolphins usually do?
Or do you have the guts to finally make some good decisions to turn the Dolphins into a winner.
If you don't, then you're just going to reinforce the image that as long as you can make some money off the team…you're happy…regardless of how bad the team is.
Fans, you should boycott the team until Ireland is fired.
Course based on ticket sales this season….it looks like you already have started!

NBA Update:
So what's still causing the NBA holdup?
Simple, Money.
Both sides refuse to budge on the division of basketball-related income.
The league wants to do away with player options on contracts, to avoid a Miami Heat dream team again.
The league wants to slash annual salary increases. (As a journalist I have to ask….what exactly is an annual salary increase?)
And the league wants to end sign-and-trade contracts.
Other than that, things are perfect between the players and the owners.
*rolls eyes*
But here's where the players are absolute morons.
By refusing to budge to say 51 percent of basketball related income….the players cost themselves $400 million in this year alone.
The cost of dropping from 52 to 51 percent of basketball related income? $280 million.
Remember kids, going to class is not always a bad thing….sometimes you may learn something useful….like Math!

Panthers: (vs. Winnipeg Jets, 7:30 p.m., Fox Sports Florida)
Yes folks, you read it right earlier…the Florida Panthers will finish October with a winning record.
Not only that, but the Panthers are in second place in the southeast division, just 2 points behind the Washington Capitals.
The Panthers welcome in the last place Winnipeg Jets Monday night.
Hey South Florida, you realize that the Panthers are the most successful major pro sports franchise in the area?
