Man dies while diving off South Florida coast, Hallandale Beach police say

An investigation is underway after police said a man was pulled from the water off the South Florida coast in Broward on Friday morning and later died.

Few details have been released, but Hallandale Beach police told CBS News Miami that officers responded to the 1800 block of South Ocean Drive just after 9:30 a.m. after getting reports of an unresponsive person in the water who appeared to have been diving.

Hallandale Beach Ocean Rescue pulled the man from the water and began lifesaving measures, and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue rushed him to a hospital.

He was later pronounced dead, according to police.

Detectives said that, at this time, it doesn't appear that foul play is involved, but the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

No other details were released.
