S. Fla. Dance Group Competes On National Show For $500K Prize
MIAMI (CBS4)- Some of South Florida's hottest hoofers, known as Twitch, are up for the big prize on a national television dance show.
Twitch dancers train at Dance Attack Studios in Miami, and one of the stars is 17-year-old Katie DiFede, a senior at Palmer Trinity School in Palmetto Bay.
A prime-time pep rally was held on Wednesday and teachers and students had a chance to see Twitch perform on last week's 'Live to Dance' on CBS.
They cheered and cheered, and promised to vote for DiFede's group after Wednesday's live broadcast. Viewers can cast their votes via text or call in. The 'Live to Dance' champions will take home $500,000 in cold cash
Alexa Cujiga and Marina Bertrand are two of DiFede's best friends. They said they're holding a watch party Wednesday night in her honor.
"We are very happy that her dreams are coming true she has worked so hard," Cujiga said.
"I've been to some of her dance shows before," Bertrand said. "It was awesome. I am so proud of all of them".
DiFede's teachers feel much the same way.
"We're all behind her 100 percent . She works really hard and it's paying off," said Math teacher Maria Vanegas
"Definitely we are all really excited," said art teacher Alex Katzman. "We are such a small school and to see one of our own, we can't help but be excited!"
'Live to Dance' airs on CBS4 at 8 p.m. Wednesday nights.
