MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have confirmed their second child is on the way and announced when the new royal baby will arrive.

Kate Middleton and Prince William made the official announcement Monday morning in a statement released by the royal palace:

"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to confirm they are expecting a baby in April 2015. The Duchess of Cambridge continues to be affected by Hyperemesis Gravidarum, but her condition is steadily improving."

This diagnosis is normally given when a pregnant woman loses more than 10 pounds due to extreme and persistent nausea and vomiting.

Middleton's first pregnancy with Prince George broke in December 2012 when she was admitted to a London hospital with the very same illness.

According to the American Pregnancy Association, "the symptoms of HG usually appear between 4-6 weeks of pregnancy and may peak between 9-13 weeks."

It's still unknown if Prince George will have a little sister or a little brother.

It is known the second royal baby will be fourth in line to the British throne; behind grandfather Prince Charles, dad Prince William and older brother Prince George. That means come April, Prince Harry will become fifth in line to the throne.

In the coming days, royal gossipers may actually get a glimpse of the Duchess and her new baby bump.

Despite her severe morning sickness, she's still scheduled to make an appearance with her husband at the Royal Garden Hotel in London to receive the President of the Republic of Singapore.

On Tuesday, the royal couple is expected to attend both the ceremonial welcome at the Horse Guards Parade and the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2015 Awards Ceremony at the Natural History Museum.
