Report: Jeremy Lin Will Not Play Against Heat

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The New York Knicks will have to rely on Mike Bibby and Toney Douglas at the point guard position against the Miami Heat in Game 5 of the NBA playoffs Wednesday night.

Knicks interim head coach Mike Woodson told the New York Times Tuesday that point guard Jeremy Lin will not play during the series with the Heat.

Lin has been out since March 31 dealing with recovery from a knee surgery. He was the Knicks' last hope of a quality starting point guard after Baron Davis tore his patellar tendon and his ACL in Game 4.

Miami Heat fans are all too familiar with relying on Bibby in the playoffs and Douglas was benched early on the season and replaced with Lin. Bibby is averaging 4.3 points and 1.8 assists in the playoffs after averaging 2.6 points and 2.1 assists in the regular season for the Knicks.

The Heat have their full roster available against New York and will likely use the same starting lineup of Mario Chalmers, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Udonis Haslem and Chris Bosh in Game 5.
