MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Anticipation is growing for this Saturday's multi-state Powerball drawing and so is the jackpot.
Lottery officials have announced that estimated jackpot, which has rolled 18 times since the November 7th drawing, is now up to $800 million, making it the country's largest jackpot ever.
Those wanting to partake have to buy their tickets by 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Those buying in were asked what they would do with all that cash.
"Half goes to savings and the rest to play with...travel ...Then take a vacation from travel," said one player.
"Buy a house for me and my son..a car," said another player.
"It's never enough. There's plenty of things to do with the money," said another person buying a ticket.
"I'll probably take care of my entire family. Make sure they're set and try to invest the rest," said another player.
Florida is one of the highest selling Powerball states out of 44 states that participate, selling $3.2 billion dollars in tickets, giving $1.3 billion toward education.
Since the state started playing Powerball, 10 winners have been from Florida, two of them from South Florida.
Those opting to play, should remember a number of things.
Jackpot prizes are paid in 30 annual installments or as a one-time, lump-sum payment. Jackpot prizes must be claimed within 60 days after the draw to receive the cash option of an estimated $496 million. Winners have 180 days from the applicable drawing to claim their prize.
