Power Line Damages House In Hialeah
HIALEAH (CBS4)- A home in Hialeah was damaged and residents were evacuated Tuesday morning after a power line caused a portion of the house to go up in flames.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and were able to contain the fire before it caused more damage. But the back of the family's house was completely damaged.
Florida Power & Lighting took the neighborhood's power off to allow firefighters to battle the blaze.
Resident Daemi Jimenez said the neighborhood heard the commotion.
"We were sleeping around 3 a.m. when we heard that the lights went off," she said. "We figured it was normal so we sat up waiting for it (the lights) to come. "Then we heard an explosion and we heard some people screaming so we went outside and we saw that the house…the little apartment in the back was on fire."
