Palm Beach Burn Ban Lifted In Time For July 4th Fireworks
PALM BEACH COUNTY (CBS4) - Thanks to Mother Nature and our recent days of rain, Monday night's fireworks shows in Palm Beach County will go on.
On Friday, the state's Division of Forestry lifted a burn ban in the county which had been in place since May 12th due to the region's dry conditions, according to the Sun-Sentinel. The ban prohibited all open fires except for those in barbecue grills. The ban also included fireworks both legal fireworks and professional displays.
Forestry officials put the burn ban in place after the county dropped below 500 on the Keetch-Byram Drought Index which is used to determine forest fire potential.
Since January 1st, there have been more than 3,800 brush and wildfires in the state which have scorched more than 200,000 acres.
