PA Company Recalls 5k Pounds Of Pork Products
WASHINGTON (AP) – The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service says an eastern Pennsylvania company is recalling about 5,550 pounds of pureed pork products that may contain small metal fragments.
The recall by K. Heeps Inc. of Allentown is for 4.5 pound boxes of Imperial Sysco "Puree Shaped Meats Country Style Pork and Binder Product."
The boxes have the mark "EST. 9379" inside the USDA inspection mark. They were produced on June 16 and shipped to California, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, Texas, Utah and Virginia as well as Pennsylvania for institutional use.
The department said two consumers reported finding the metal fragments in the products. Officials believe they may have come from blending equipment at the plant.
There have been no reports of injuries.
Consumers with questions regarding the recall should contact the company's Quality Assurance Manager, David Pychinka, at (610) 530-5564.
