Officials Prep Kids For Back-To-School With Free Supplies & Wellness Checks
CLEARWATER (CBSMiami/AP) – Even with the weekend's tax-free sales holiday, the cost of school supplies can still rack up pretty quick. In an effort to prep kids headed back-to-school soon, officials in Clearwater and Miami are handing out free school supplies Saturday.
Police officers in Clearwater are handing out free backpacks to children Saturday at North Greenwood Recreation & Aquatic Center.
In addition to a new backpack, lunch is also being provided as well as school supplies and the ever-so-important wellness exams. Youth physicals, blood pressure and vision checks will all be available at no cost.
Meanwhile in Miami, city officials will attend a back-to-school giveaway event at Kendale Lakes Branch Library. School supplies and materials will be handed out, while supplies last.
