Northbound Sawgrass Expressway in Sunrise reopens after deadly wrong-way crash

The northbound lanes of the Sawgrass Expressway, which were temporarily shut down in Sunrise after a deadly wrong-way crash, have reopened. 

Sunrise Fire Rescue said they responded to a head-on collision between a tractor-trailer and a passenger car just before 3 a.m. They said the red passenger car was driving south in the northbound lanes and hit the tractor-trailer. 

The driver of the passenger car died, according to fire rescue, who identified her as a 37-year-old woman. The said two people hurt in the crash were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the driver of the tractor trailer is fine.

The lanes between Oakland Park Boulevard and Commercial Boulevard were temporarily closed for hours for the accident investigation. They reopened just before 10:30 a.m.
