Million Dollar Powerball Ticket Sold In Miami

TALLAHASSEE (CBS4) - If you bought a Powerball ticket at a Miami supermarket on SW 8th Avenue for Wednesday night's drawing, you may want to give it a second look.

Lottery officials say while only one ticket matched all five numbers and Powerball number to win the $94 million jackpot, a ticket sold in Miami matched all five numbers but not the Powerball numbers to win a million dollars in a Power Play.

The ticket was sold at La Cadena Supermarket at 240 SW 8th Avenue.

Two other tickets, sold in Sarasota and Pensacola, were also Power Play million dollar winners. A fourth ticket sold in Orange City, Florida (which matched all five numbers but was not a Power Play) is worth $200 thousand.

The winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize.

Since the launch of Powerball in Florida in January 2009, more than 19 million Florida Lottery players have won more than $358 million in prizes; with 135 of them winning $200,000 or more.

Specifically, 110 players have won $200 thousand each for matching 5-of-5 numbers, 22 players have won $1 million each for matching 5-of-5 numbers with Power Play, and three lucky players have won a multimillion-dollar jackpot prize for matching 5-of-5 numbers plus the Powerball.
