Man Trips Over Guardrail, Hit By Car On North University Drive

PEMBROKE PINES (CBSMiami) – A man is rushed to the hospital after he was struck by a car while trying to cross North University Drive on foot early Friday morning, police said.

According to Pembroke Pines police, Bentley Johnson was hit at 4:22 a.m. in the 1400 block of North University Drive.

Authorities said Johnson tried to cross the street on foot and chose not to take a crosswalk. As he stepped over a guardrail on the east side of the road, he became caught. Attempting to free himself, he fell into the northbound lane of North University Drive and into the path of a black Honda.

CBS4's news partner the Miami Herald reported Johnson was knocked unconscious and sustained several broken bones. He was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital by Fire Rescue and regained consciousness but remains in serious condition.
