"Killer B" linebacker Kim Bokamper marks 50 years with Dolphins, from player to broadcaster

Former "Killer B" linebacker Kim Bokamper's evolution spans 50 years with the Miami Dolphins, taking him from making plays on the gridiron to sharing expert insights in the CBS Miami broadcast booth.

Selected 19th overall in the first round of the 1976 NFL Draft out of San Jose State, he officially made his NFL regular-season game debut in 1977.

Over his nine-season playing career spanning from 1977 through 1985, Bokamper anchored the Dolphins' front seven as a versatile edge rusher, shifting between linebacker and defensive end. Bokamper became a cornerstone of Don Shula's famously dominant "Killer B's" defense during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

A Pro Bowl linebacker in 1979 and a former NFL All-Rookie Team selection, he started over 100 games for the franchise. His longevity and high motor helped propel the Dolphins to two Super Bowl appearances (Super Bowls XVII and XIX) and three AFC Championship games, cementing his place in franchise lore before his induction into the Dolphins Walk of Fame in 2013.

After his NFL career, Bokamper successfully transitioned from the gridiron to broadcasting. Becoming a familiar voice across South Florida, he established himself as a presence on sports talk radio, hosting programs on WIOD and WQAM, and serving as a key voice on the Miami Dolphins Radio Network.

In television, Bokamper became a staple for local coverage as a longtime sports analyst and reporter for CBS Miami (WFOR-TV). From hosting pre-game and post-game shows to breaking down X's and O's on sports broadcasts, his warm on-camera presence connected generations of fans to the franchise.

Over the years, he took on an integral role during the Dolphins' preseason broadcasts, going back to the field this time as a dedicated sideline reporter before moving up to the booth to partner with play-by-play announcer Steve Goldstein to call the action for the Fins.
