Hassan Whiteside Suspended One Game For Flagrant Foul
Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside was suspended one game without pay for his Flagrant 2 foul against the Boston Celtics on Monday night, and will miss Miami's home matchup against Brooklyn on Wednesday.
The play featured the 7-footer landing an egregious shove to the back of Kelly Olynyk in the third quarter of a game the Heat would end up losing 100-90, dropping them to ninth in the Eastern Conference and a half game back of Charlotte for the final playoff spot.
Dwyane Wade was not pleased with Whiteside's actions, telling reporters after the game that "if he continues to act that way then he's not reliable."
It was the second time in the last five games Whiteside received league punishment for a physical altercation with an opposing player. He speared Alex Len to the ground a week ago after a dunk on the Suns center led to the two tangling up, but merely drew a fine.
Whiteside, earning $770,000 this season, has been fined $47,000 to date.
