MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Veterinary specialists worked all night to make sure Buster the dog made it.

Blistered all over with only patches of hair-  the estimated 1-year old dog was sedated at the Lauderdale Veterinary Specialist in Fort Lauderdale.

"He's been completely out, sedated for the pain oozing blood and puss, emaciated....looking into his eyes you want to tear your heart out of your chest to see a dog in such condition," said Dr. Lynel Tocci.

According to the organization, 100+ Abandoned Dogs run by Amy Roman, Miami-Dade Animal Services got him on Sunday.

Two men reportedly brought in Buster as a stray.

"Usually animals with that type of condition have lived outside most of their lives and scrap around for food and malnutrition and things like that," said Tocci.

Buster's lucky moment arrived when volunteers the organization went to the shelter and brought him to the veterinary specialist clinic. He was placed on antibiotics, intravenous fluids and sedated.  Two days later he was a new Buster.

"He's doing great he eating he's loving his nurses he wants his hed scratched and eating treats i think he's doing much better," said Roman.

Folks caring for Buster want those who allegedly harmed him to come forward and are pleading with the public for information.

Meantime, he is under their care but need help from the public to continue his treatment.

"We have no pride. We need donations for him and for his care. We don't know what we're up against. We take it one day at a time," said Roman.
