Ft. Lauderdale Man Sentenced For Credit Card Fraud

BUFFALO, N.Y. (CBS4) – A Ft. Lauderdale man has been sentenced in New York for his part in a credit card fraud ring which stole thousands of dollars using counterfeit debit and credit cards.

U.S. Attorney William Hochul said Siu Chung, 51, was given one year in prison and ordered to pay $50,000 in restitution. Last March, Chung pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud.

Investigators said Cheung and eight others obtained the credit and debit card account numbers of hundreds of bank customers and then used them to produce counterfeit cards. Between 2007 and 2009, they're believed to have used the cards to withdraw $510,500 from ATMs at casinos in western New York and elsewhere.
