FSU Looking For Tune-Up Against Bethune-Cookman

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) - The Florida State Seminoles welcomes Bethune-Cookman into Doak Campbell Stadium this weekend to give them a look at the nation's fastest rising quarterback, "Famous" Jameis Winston.

Winston, who made his first start two weeks ago on the road against Pitt, has been playing at an other-worldly level for the Seminoles. Through two games, Winston is 40-45 for 570 yards, six touchdowns, and just one interception.

Put another way, Winston has thrown more touchdown passes than he has incomplete passes through two games.

B-C has one of the top rated defenses in the Football Championship Subdivision, but FSU's offense has been a buzzsaw this season.

FSU is averaging 51.5 points per game, good for fifth best in the country. The Noles rank 19th in the country in rushing yards, averaging 266.5 yards per game. Overall, FSU is averaging 7.1 yards per carry, third best in the FBS.

Led by Winston, FSU's passing attack is averaging better than 300 yards per game through the air.

B-C is in the midst of the school's best start since 2010. Last week, Bethune-Cookman traveled to Miami and knocked off the Florida International University Panthers by a final score of 34-13.

But the level of competition between FIU and FSU is night and day for Bethune-Cookman. Oddsmakers are making the Seminoles a 39 point favorite heading into Friday.

The game will not be televised, but will be available on starting at 6:04 p.m. Saturday.
