Fins Lose Another Potential GM Candidate

DAVIE (CBSMiami) – Another day and another name has been scratched from the list of potential general manager candidates for the Miami Dolphins.

According to Albert Breer of the NFL Network, Philadelphia Eagles vice-president of player personnel Tom Gamble has removed himself from consideration for both the Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager openings.

It's the third well-respected personnel man to rebuff the Dolphins as the team continues its search for a general manager. reported late Tuesday night that the Dolphins asked the Seattle Seahawks for permission to interview senior personnel executive Scot McCloughan for the general manager position. According to PFT, McCloughan asked the Seahawks to deny the request, which the team did.

Last week, the Dolphins were told in no uncertain terms that Baltimore Ravens assistant general manager Eric DeCosta had "no interest" in taking over the dysfunctional Dolphins franchise.

The Dolphins' general manager search is dragging on, much like the offensive coordinator search. The Fins were very slow in making decisions on the coaching staff and general manager after the season ended and now are not moving at the normal pace of NFL franchises trying to fill positions.

The perceived leaders for the Fins' general manager job now are Ray Farmer, of the Cleveland Browns, and Lake Dawson of the Tennessee Titans.
