Dolphins Re-Sign Brian Hartline, Sign Matt Moore

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins finally put pen to paper Friday on a new deal with wide receiver Brian Hartline after a career season for the former Ohio State Buckeye.

According to ProFootballTalk.com, Hartline signed a five-year, $30.775 million contract, with $12.5 million in fully-guaranteed money. The deal averages out to roughly $6 million per season, but may not count that much against the salary cap depending on the structure of the contract.

Hartline was a fourth-round pick of the Dolphins in 2009 and the only remaining player picked by former Dolphins vice-president Bill Parcells during his two years of running the Dolphins draft.

In 2012, Hartline had a career-best season pulling down 74 catches for 1,083 yards, but just one touchdown. Hartline developed a good chemistry with first-year quarterback Ryan Tannehill, which the Dolphins hope will continue into the future.

With Hartline now signed, the Dolphins will turn their attention to getting a speed receiver and tight end into the fold during free agency. The team may also target recently released right tackle Eric Winston, a former University of Miami Hurricane.

Winston would provide stability to the right side of the offensive line and allow the Fins to move Jonathan Martin to left tackle. It would also leave only one position along the offensive line in need, right guard.
